JARLogic Design Methods
At JARLogic, LLC, we use industry standard methods in our development to provide compatibility with the maximum number of commonly used browsers. Below are described some of the techniques and features we have been known to implement.
Cascading Style Sheets
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are a mechanism to provide design layout consistently across all pages in the Web site. This approach also complies with government standards for Web page accessibility. All Web pages designed by JARLogic utilize CSS.
A Web site called the CSS Zen Garden illustrates Cascading Style Sheets point very well. At this site you can choose different style sheets and see the same content viewed in different ways.
Google Maps
Map references are becomming more and more common on Web sites. Google Maps provides a user friendly interface for viewing and navigating maps inluding identifying landmarks and giving driving directions. We at JARLogic have used Google Maps to provide links to driving directions and also to display custom landmark points and shapes on maps with associated information. Check out our Google Maps Example.
Blogs
Blogs can be used to allow articles to be added to a Web site on a regular basis. The basic blog structure also allows user comments as well as providing an index to past articles. JARLogic uses the WordPress personal publishing platform to incorporate blogs into our Web designs.
Database
The use of databases in Web sites allows for dynamic page content based on user input. MySQL is an open source database that we use at JARLogic to provide desired database capabilities in our Web designs.
Web Editing Tools
To empower our clients to take over basic maintenance of their Web pages, JARLogic will train them in the use of KompoZer, a complete web authoring system that combines web file management and easy-to-use WYSIWYG web page editing.
KompoZer is designed to be extremely easy to use, making it ideal for non-technical computer users who want to create an attractive, professional-looking web site without needing to know HTML or web coding.
Cool Widgets
Here are some neat things gleaned from other sites as an example of including publically provided javascript widgets in a Web page.
